The short version
1 min
Problem
Patients reordered regular medicine through a nine-field form, and 4 in 10 gave up halfway.
What I did
A reorder button on each medicine, with the pharmacy and dosage carried over from last time.
Result
Completed requests rose from 61% to 89%, and clinic phone calls about prescriptions fell by a quarter.
My role
Product designer on a squad of five.
Context
Mendwell runs the patient app for 140 clinics. Repeat prescriptions were its most used feature and its most complained-about one.
My role
I was the only designer on a squad of five. I ran the research, designed the flow on iOS and web, and tested it with patients and pharmacists.
Research
Session recordings showed people dropping off on the dosage and pharmacy fields, which they had already filled in the last time they ordered.

Nothing changes.
Most repeat orders are identical to the last one.
Typos cost a day.
A misspelled drug name sent the request back to the clinic.
Pharmacists want structure.
Free text slowed down the pharmacy check.
Approach
We cut the form down to one decision: reorder as before, or change something. Changes open the full form, already filled in.
Solution
Each medicine in the app now has a Reorder button. One tap confirms the same dose and pharmacy, a second tap sends it.
Changing anything opens the old form with everything prefilled, so nobody types a drug name again.
Result

Down from nine fields
The new flow launched in March 2024. Clinics noticed first: the Monday-morning phone queue got shorter.
What I learned
The best form is the one you don’t have to fill in twice.
